‘The Bear’ Breaks Its Own Emmys Record

"The Bear" achieved a remarkable feat by securing 11 Emmy Awards from 23 nominations on Sunday evening, setting a new record for the highest number of awards won by a series in the comedy categories within a single year. However, a debate emerged on social media and during the ceremony regarding the appropriateness of the show's classification, given its reputation for a tense and stress-inducing atmosphere, leading some to question whether it should compete in the drama categories instead.

During their opening monologue, actors Dan and Eugene Levy humorously addressed the controversial category placement of the show, by stating, ‘Some of you might be expecting us to make a joke about whether ‘The Bear’ is really a comedy, but in the true spirit of ‘The Bear’, we will not be making any jokes.’

On the red carpet, reporters questioned ‘The Bear’ actors Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach about the category placement. Edebiri responded by stating that the conversation is not for the actors to have, while Moss-Bachrach nonchalantly commented, ‘Comedy, drama, who cares, man?’.

Big wins on Sunday night included lead comedy actor (Jeremy Allen White, as Carmy), supporting comedy actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach, as Richard “Richie” Jerimovich), supporting comedy actress (Liza Colón-Zayas, as Tina) and directing (Christopher Storer for “Fishes” or Ramy Youssef for “Honeydew”).

The past year has been remarkable for "The Bear," as it has achieved record-breaking success. In July, the second season of this acclaimed FX series, which premiered in June 2023, garnered an impressive 23 nominations in the comedy category, including the prestigious Outstanding Comedy Series award. This achievement eclipsed the previous Emmy record of 22 nominations set by NBC's "30 Rock" in 2009.

Man Shares Touching Story of Meeting Harry Styles, Not Realizing Who He Was

Darnell Davis, a fashion enthusiast with a substantial following on Instagram, recently recounted a remarkable encounter with none other than Harry Styles. While strolling through Regents Park in London, Davis caught the attention of the "Watermelon Sugar" singer, who approached him to express admiration for his outfit. It's worth noting that Davis initially didn't recognize Styles when the compliment was given, prompting him to ask the Grammy winner for his identity.

In a post featuring a series of images capturing the encounter, Davis shared the story of how Styles had complimented his attire. Dressed in a vibrant, multicolor abstract-printed two-piece set coupled with an orange fedora and long beaded necklaces, Davis received unexpected praise from the renowned vocalist. "I like your fit," Styles remarked to Davis, to which the stunned fashion enthusiast responded with gratitude, also acknowledging Styles' own impeccable fashion sense.

Davis said he had to Google the singer. “Not only do I find out he’s crazy famous,” Davis noted, “But he was born on February 1st—the same day as my mother. Talk about a cosmic twist! Moral of the story: Stay open to the universe, appreciate every encounter, and always be kind—you never know when you’re about to meet a global pop star (even if you don’t recognize him),” Davis finished in his September 16 post.

This wasn’t the first spotting of Styles in the past week, however, until recently, he has been keeping out of the public eye, rumored to be working on his next album after closing out ‘Love on Tour’ last year. He was also recently pictured sitting next to Vogue’s Anna Wintour at S.S. Daley’s show for London Fashion Week.
