Lollapalooza, known as the biggest music festival in the Midwest, kicked off its four-day celebration on Thursday, August 1. Despite storm warnings, fans and music lovers–donning bright pink cowboy hats and matching ponchos–flocked towards Grant Park to catch a glimpse of their favorite artists.

The Midwest Princess herself, Chapell Roan, made an appearance on Day 1. The pop star quickly rose to fame this year for her powerful vocals, catchy lyrics, and intricate drag looks. She did not disappoint her Lolla fans when she took the stage in a neon wrestling bodysuit and KISS-inspired makeup. She performed her hit songs “Femininomenon,” “HOT TO GO!,” “Good Luck, Babe,” “Pink Pony Club,” and an unreleased track titled “The Subway.”

Megan Thee Stallion and Hozier–the headliners for Day 1–then utilized their platform to advocate for political causes close to their hearts.

“They [were] fake mad that I was popping it for Kamala, and I don’t think they heard what she said. Kamala said she wants a cease-fire. Kamala said she supports women’s rights. And she said she’s tired of those high-ass gas prices… It’s Hotties for Harris, goddammit!,” Megan told the crowd, referencing her performance in the Democratic presidential nominee’s rally in Atlanta.

Meanwhile, Hozier serenaded the audience with an unreleased song titled ‘Nobody’s Soldier.’ The singer noted that the performance was done in solidarity with those who are suffering from violence in Rafa and Gaza. He even urged his fans to contract their representatives and ardently call for a ceasefire.

“It doesn’t matter who you are, it doesn’t matter where you come from. It doesn’t matter if you are an Israeli citizen or Palestinian citizen–you wouldn’t want to see any human being be subject to the kind of terror we have been witnessing,” Hozier asserted.

On Day 2, K-pop and R&B seamlessly merged as Stray Kids and SZA captivated the festival audience. The Korean boy group wowed fans with their electrifying stage presence as they performed tracks like “Chk Chk Boom, “ “TOPLINE,” “Back Door,” and more. On the other hand, the CTRL singer teased the fans with new music by performing ‘Cry Baby’–a song that is “not [yet] out, but will be.”

The third day was marked with a surprise set from Skrillex at the Perry Stage, which was renamed to the “Sonny Stage” for the day in honor of the artist’s first name. The fans assembled a mosh pit and danced to dubstep bangers like “Bangarang” and “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites.”

K-pop girl group IVE also made their Lollapalooza debut and sang hits like “LOVE DIVE,” “ELEVEN,” “Baddie” and more with a live band. The girls performed with incredible energy–maybe a bit too much–which led to a wardrobe malfunction from their intense dancing. Fortunately, leader An Yujin managed to laugh it off.

“My hair [is] gone, but I love you guys!” the 20-year-old artist quipped.

Lollapalooza came to an end on its fourth and final day with amazing performances from Conan Gray, Blink-182, and Melanie Martinez.

Donald Trump backs out from ABC debate, insists on Fox News

Republican bet Donald Trump flouted a prior agreement to have a presidential debate with Democratic nominee Kamala Harris on September 10 at ABC News. Instead, Trump pushed for a September 4 debate hosted by Fox News, which Harris also declined.

Trump argued that the previously scheduled debate was between him and Biden only. With the latter dropping out from the race, the original agreement must also be considered rescinded. He also cited an alleged “conflict of interest” due to his ongoing litigation with the ABC Network.

“I’ll see her on September 4th or, I won’t see her at all,” the Republican nominee said.

On the other hand, Harris’ team released a statement asserting that the purpose of Trump’s tactic was for the known conservative cable network to “bail him out.”

“It’s interesting how ‘any time, any place’ becomes ‘one specific time, one specific safe space,’” Harris noted in an X post.

“I’ll be there on September 10th, like he agreed to. I hope to see him there,” she added.

Pitt argued in court that this was a violation of an agreement between them stating that one cannot sell their shares without the consent of the other. Jolie's side contended that the actress was forced into doing so because Pitt refused to buy her interest unless she signed the unjust NDA.
