Biden terminates reelection run, endorses Harris

President Joe Biden announced his departure from the 2024 Presidential Race through a letter posted on X. He then endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the next Democratic presidential nominee.

“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President,” Biden remarked. “And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.” He promised to address the nation and provide more details later this week.

In a subsequent post, Biden looked back on how his first action as the Democrat party nominee in 2020 was to choose Harris to be his running mate. “And it’s been the best decision I’ve made,” he noted.

“Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year,” Biden declared.

In response, Harris thanked the President for his service to the country and vowed that she will “earn and win this nomination.”

“I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party–and unite our nation–to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda,” she asserted.

“We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win,” Harris added

Meanwhile, former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton concurred with Biden and also expressed support for Harris.

“We are honored to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do whatever we can to support her,” the couple proclaimed in a statement posted in X. “Now is the time to… fight with everything we’ve got to elect her. America’s future depends on it.”

Within the past few weeks, concerns over the 81-year-old President’s health prompted calls for his withdrawal from candidacy. Such sentiments were intensified after his notably poor performance in a debate against Trump last June 27.

On July 19, three weeks after said debate, the number of Democratic officials currently sitting in Congress urging him to withdraw had already surpassed 30, as reported by The Guardian.

2NE1 reunites for 15th anniversary global tour

Eight years after their disbandment, YG Entertainment officially announced the reunion of K-pop girl group 2NE1 as well as an upcoming global tour in a YouTube video.

“The members of 2NE1 informed me that they’d like to hold a concert commemorating their 15th anniversary. So we caught up and happily discussed, making it all happen within this year,” YG’s founder and former CEO Yang Hyun Suk revealed.

Although there are no specific dates for the concert yet, the founder declared that it would begin during the latter part of the year and would continue until next year.

“It will start in early October in Seoul. We have already booked performance venues in Osaka and Tokyo for the end of November and December. We're in the process of adjusting schedules for further performances,” the founder confirmed.

“I think this concert will be quite special. It resonates with those who grew up with 2NE1's music, sharing those memories,” he added.

2NE1 is known as one of the groups that ushered and dominated the 2nd generation of K-Pop, hooking fans through their extraordinary charisma and astonishing stage presence. They rose to fame with their hit songs “FIRE,” “I DON’T CARE,” “I AM THE BEST,” “COME BACK HOME,” “LONELY” and more.
