LISA Is Coming To NYC This September

New Yorkers, your time has come! The Global Citizen Organization recently announced that along with Post Malone, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll, and Rauw Alejandro, the world-renowned rapper, singer, dancer, and style icon LISA (BLACKPINK) is set to headline the Global Citizen Festival 2024. The festival is scheduled to take place on September 28, 2024, at Central Park's Great Lawn.

Founded by Hugh Evans and Ryan Gall in 2009, the goal of this music event is simple: end poverty. Like other music festivals, tickets for Global Citizen are available for sale. But, you can also earn these tickets by taking various actions on the organization's app, such as signing petitions, donating to causes, contacting elected officials to drive lasting change, and more.

ITZY’s Lia

ITZY’s Lia Is Back!

Last year, on September 18, JYP Entertainment shared a post announcing ITZY member Lia's indefinite hiatus due to health-related issues. “Lia underwent consultation and examination as she is experiencing extreme tension and anxiety about carrying out her scheduled activities and received medical advice that she needs rest and treatment.”

Thankfully, after almost 10 months, Lia is back and healthier than ever. On July 8, the company stated, “Following treatment and rest, her tension and symptoms of anxiety have significantly improved. Therefore, after careful discussion with Lia, it has been decided that she will resume her activities starting with ITZY’s new album, set to be released in the second half of the year.”

The post further clarified that for the previously arranged schedules, only four members (Yeji, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna) will be participating.

The More You Know:

  • Last week, MBC released the documentary "Magic Hour: The Seventeen." While this documentary exclusively features SEVENTEEN members and CARATs (SEVENTEEN's fans), its main purpose is to show the world the inner workings of the K-pop industry, K-pop idols' journeys to success, and the overall K-pop fan culture.

The documentary is available for free on MBC's YouTube channel and Rakuten Viki.

  • The Grammy Museum, located in Los Angeles, has joined forces with K-pop’s leading company HYBE to present an interactive exhibition for K-pop fans and muggles alike.

In the HYBE: We Believe in Music exhibition, the display will feature iconic outfits worn by idols in their MVs, including "Maestro" by SEVENTEEN, "Yet To Come" by BTS, "Sugar Rush Ride" by TXT, "Easy" by LE SSERAFIM, "Sweet Venom" by ENHYPEN, and more. The event will also offer exclusive content with HYBE artists and fun activities for visitors.

While this project will feature HYBE's biggest artists, due to ADOR’s request, NewJeans’ name has been left out.

  • JYP Entertainment has announced Stray Kids' new world tour "dominATE," starting on August 24. The current stops include Seoul, Singapore, Melbourne, Sydney, Kaohsiung, Tokyo, Manila, Macau, Osaka, Bangkok, Jakarta, and Hong Kong, with more Latin American, North American, and European dates to be announced later.

  • Reportedly, two male Korean streamers, Park and Kim, acted as delivery men and sent messages such as “The package is here, but the house number isn't written on it,” to NCT and EXO members in hopes of obtaining the idols’ personal information. The criminals were issued fines of approximately $2,167.74 USD by Criminal Division 3 of the Seoul Eastern District Court for violating the Information and Communication Network Act and Information Protection.

Best Songs From Last Week

The "certified vocal queen" of K-pop, TAEYEON, blessed us with "Heaven," and there couldn't have been a better name for the track as it literally sounds like heaven. The song overall is quite bright and perfect for summer. Paired with a horror-themed artistic music video, it makes for an unforgettable experience.

Dreamcatcher's discography mostly focuses on rock-inspired music with loud instruments. However, they have a habit of finishing their albums with ballads. And the last song of their recent album "VirtouS," titled "Fireflies," is no different. This ballad has the power to turn a casual listener into an Insomniac. With mellow instruments, the track allows the members' vocals, harmonies, and ad-libs to shine.

ENHYPEN's entire "ROMANCE: UNTOLD" is a summer bop containing RnB-inspired pop hits, but the catchiest song by far is "Your Eyes Only." With lovestruck lyrics, "loser-boy" vibes, and heavenly harmonies, this song will live in your brain rent-free for a week.

✨ DK’s Salmon Rice Pot Recipe ✨

Besides his ethereal vocals, SEVENTEEN's DK is also known for being a great cook who loves to prepare elaborate meals for his team members and family. Recently he shared a photo of salmon rice pot that he cooked for his mother and sister, and also told CARATS how to cook it at home.

Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups rice

  • 2.5 cups water

  • 3 tablespoons tsuyu

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 broth cube (bouillon cube)

  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped

  • 1/2 onion, sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, sliced

  • 1 salmon fillet

  • Pepper to taste

  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

Prepare the Rice

  1. Rinse 2 cups of rice until the water runs clear.

  2. In a pot, add the rinsed rice and 2.5 cups of water.

  3. Add 3 tablespoons tsuyu, a pinch of salt, and 1 broth cube.

  4. Bring it to boil then cover with lid and cook for 15 minutes on medium heat.

Prepare the Fish

  1. Marinate the fish with soy sauce, salt, and pepper for 30 minutes.

  2. Cook it in a pan until well done.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. Sauté the sliced onion and minced garlic in a small pan until they are soft and slightly caramelized.

Assemble the Dish

  1. After the rice has cooked for 15 minutes, add the chopped green onions on top.

  2. Place the sautéed onion and garlic mixture over the rice.

  3. Place the salmon fillet on top of the onion and garlic.

  4. Cover the pot again and let it sit on low heat for an additional 3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the salmon to warm through.

Enjoy with kimchi and other banchans (Korean side dishes)!
